Wedding planning: how to beat the stress and enjoy the experience!
Planning a wedding can be very exciting since it’s one of the most important moments in your life. Yet, at the same time, there are so many moving pieces that it can also become very stressful.
Learning how to plan and not forgetting even the tiniest details can certainly place a lot of pressure on the soon-to-be-married couple. As we’ve lived this experience, we decided to put together some tips to help ease the wedding-related stress.
Resources
You can find so many resources, whether it’s blogs or even downloadable PDF’s on platforms like Etsy and Amazon that offer checklists for you to tick and flick. These guides break down what to do and when leading up to your wedding. We highly recommend getting your hands on a template or blog that resonates with you.
Budget
When planning your wedding it is so important to have agreed upon a budget. You could manage all your costings in a good old Excel spreadsheet, otherwise, there are so many fancy apps that will allow you to break down all your costings. This pre-planning allows you to roughly estimate how much you’d like to spend on different areas of your wedding to ensure you don’t blow out your budget and more importantly, you’re not putting yourself under financial pressure.
Something else to note is that it’s a good idea to leave 5% of the wedding budget open. There are random expenses like unexpected guests, service charges, and overtime costs that can arise, so it never hurts to have some extra money to cover those. It’s a great way to relieve stress and ensure everything is covered from a financial standpoint.
Focus on the bigger investments
You’ll notice these checklists recommend you lock in your bigger investments first – and we wholeheartedly agree. Take the time you need to decide on your venue, photographer and videographer. Once these have been decided, you can focus on the next steps like inviting your guests and personalizing your wedding day to represent you both.
Hire a wedding planner
Outsourcing your wedding planning to a professional can be so beneficial to ensuring you have a stress-free experience! We have worked with some brilliant wedding planners who go above and beyond to ensure their client’s days run brilliantly leaving them more time to enjoy this season of their lives.
Pinterest is your friend!
Creating a mood board on Pinterest together is so much fun, it also defines your style as a couple and how you’d like your wedding day to look and feel. These boards can be created so multiple people can collaborate. It’s even a great resource to share with your vendors so they can see your vision and help it come to life.
Delegate, delegate, delegate!!
There are certain tasks you don’t need to do on your own. If you have a supportive family, bridal party and friends, delegating tasks can help take things off your plate. It’s a great method you can use to ease the pressure, and it will also make the wedding preparation a lot easier.
Remember, preparing a wedding should be fun, it doesn’t need to be overwhelming or stressful. That’s why it’s important to stay organized, keep track of your budget and also stick to your to-do list. Don’t compare yourself with others either; instead, try to bring your own wedding ideas to life. Create your perfect wedding, and ask for assistance/help when necessary!
